5.4 How To Submit Your Student's Attendance (Oregon 25-26)

Updated over 3 weeks ago

To demonstrate your student’s active participation in the OpenEd program, they’ll be asked to submit a daily attendance response through our platform.

This process is super quick; in fact, just the act of your student logging into their account will mark their attendance as a “Yes” for the day!

Note: At the very beginning of the 2025-26 school year, students might not be able to log in by themselves yet; parents may need to submit attendance for their students instead.

We'll update this page as soon as your student has access to the platform!

Parents can submit attendance on behalf of their students through the platform, too – once you’re logged in, just click on the Attendance menu option from the lefthand sidebar.

You'll be brought to a page that looks like this:

On this page, you can submit an attendance response for one or more students at a time by checking off their names.

Once you select your students, you’ll be asked to pick either Yes or No for two questions:

Did your child participate today?

If your student made progress on their education plan, pick Yes. If they had to miss a day of instruction for any reason, pick No.

If you pick No, you’ll have the option to mark your student’s absence as excused, meaning that you can provide a reason for why they were absent for the day.

Is there anything your teacher can help with?

If you pick Yes, a text box will appear. Anything you write here will be sent straight to your student’s teacher; they’ll follow up with you to see how they can help.

Note: If we don’t get an attendance response for one of your students by midnight, then that day’s attendance will automatically be recorded as an absence.

Don’t worry – you can edit your student’s attendance response for up to two weeks after the date passes.

Automated Reminders

To help you stay on track, our team will send you a daily text message at 8 AM to remind you to submit your student’s attendance for the day.

You can also submit your student’s attendance by replying to this text – just reply “Yes” or “No.”

If you reply “No,” you’ll also be able to submit a reason for the absence. That way, your student will have an excused absence recorded in our system.

If you haven’t submitted an attendance response by 4 PM, we’ll send you another nudge by text.

How To Edit Your Student’s Attendance Response

At the top of the Attendance page, you’ll see a date picker.

To change your student’s attendance response, select a day from this date picker.

You can edit your student’s response for up to two weeks after the date passes.

How Attendance Affects Enrollment

For your student to stay enrolled in good standing in the program, they will need to consistently submit a daily attendance response.

If your student has ten or more consecutive absences or twenty total (non-consecutive) absences during one school year, they might be at risk of being withdrawn.

Stay informed: Review our Withdrawal/Repayment Policy for students who withdraw before the end of the school year.
