The Oregon Department of Education requires all public school students in grades 3-8 to complete a Local Performance Requirement each school year. This requirement is incorporated into a Weekly Learning Log due in early spring and mandatory for Nyssa - OpenEd participation.

Students in grades 3-8 must complete a few mathematics, scientific inquiry, and writing questions online or on paper, deliver a short speech, and then submit the Log.

  • Students in grades K-2 are not required to complete the Local Performance Requirement; their Log will be in the regular format.

For reference, here are last year’s instructions:

  • Log in to Study Island to complete select questions online or print off the questions and upload the completed assessment to the Log.

  • Students must deliver a short speech on a topic of their choice to an audience of their choice.

  • Complete and submit the "Local Performance Requirement Log" in your child's Homeroom in InfoCenter.

We’ll send an Announcement with the 2024-25 questions at least three weeks before the Log is due.
