1.2A Inter-district Transfer: Process Overview (Oregon 25-26)

If you have a student new to OpenEd Oregon for 25-26, read below.

Updated over a week ago

Overview:

The Inter-District Transfer Form (IDTF) is a mandatory document for Oregon students seeking to enroll in the OpenEd program. State law requires that OpenEd provides the IDTF to both the student's resident district and the new (accepting) district.

How the IDTF Process Works:

  1. Complete the online Inter-District Transfer Form here.

  2. Once submitted, it automatically goes to the OpenEd team.

  3. We’ll forward your form to your resident school district and copy you on the email. If they need anything else, they’ll reach out to you directly.

  4. Once your district approves, OpenEd and our partner school finalize everything.

  5. You’ll receive a copy of the fully signed form in your inbox.

  6. Upload the signed form to the IDTF section of your enrollment page.

Important Notes:

  • Final approval to participate in the OpenEd program depends on the student’s local boundary school district signing the required Inter-district transfer form.

  • This is a one-time process, meaning that you do not need to complete the IDTF process again unless you move from your boundary school district.

  • All applicants must obtain a release from their resident district, even if the student has never been enrolled there or has previously been released to a different district.

  • Some districts require a student to qualify for a hardship for release. Please see this page for additional information.

    • Even if your resident district does not require a hardship for release, including a description may expedite the process.
