Technology Allowance is an annual subsidy for each student to ensure they have access to a computer, high-speed internet, and a webcam. You may also use Technology Allowance funds for additional approved educational resources.

Note: The Period 5 Technology class and Technology Allowance are not the same things - resources are available for both!
Available amount:
$500 for all students in grades K-12 ($250 for the mid-year program)*
*Some courses use part of a student’s Technology Allowance. Learn which courses here.
Reimbursement Window: September 25 – April 30 (January 15 – April 30 for the mid-year program)
Number of submissions per year: Up to three Request for Reimbursement forms can be submitted for each student’s Technology Allowance.
Important: If you are purchasing a NEW computer, tablet, or e-reader (over $150), it will need to be submitted by itself on one of the three available Request for Reimbursement forms.

Computers, laptops, printers, monitors, keyboards, speakers, tablets, kindles, headphones, etc.*
Electronic devices (including projectors, screens, etc.)*
Internet fees*
Items mentioned in the Reimbursable with Technology Allowance Only column*
Supplies, books, and additional materials for OpenEd Direct classes
Additional educational resources, including items approved for Custom-built and 3rd Party Provider classes (for the student or a sibling also participating in OpenEd)

Details about reimbursement for a NEW computer or device:
For NEW computers and devices, have the make, model, and serial number available to enter on the Request for Reimbursement form.
Note: New devices must be submitted on their own separate Request for Reimbursement form.
Note: New devices remain the property of the program for three years. If your student withdraws from the program during that time, you will be asked to return the device or repay the depreciated value (the amount will be determined on a case-by-case basis).
