Field Trips: Go Explore in Period 4!
Visits and passes to places like zoos, aquariums, and museums often fit in a Custom-built Period 4 Science course (not Period 2 or 3).
Some museums directly relate to a Custom-built Period 4 Social Studies course.
A field trip to a storytelling festival or the library could be included in Custom-built Period 3.
To be approved for reimbursement under Math or Language Arts, the field trip needs to be to a place that specifically teaches Math or Language Arts (not just to a place where a student can use their math, reading, or writing skills, as that can happen anywhere).
Tickets to theater performances fit in a Custom-built Period 6 Theater course, or under Exploring Fine Arts.
Period 5 Technology, Entrepreneurship, Career & Technical Education, Family & Consumer Sciences
Period 5 Technology and Technology Allowance are not the same - resources are available for both!
Students in grades 1-8 can choose Custom-built Exploring Technology for Period 5. Exploring Technology is meant to encompass a variety of technology subjects.
For example, rather than choosing between Typing, Digital Photography, or 3D Printing, a student with Exploring Technology can study all three options throughout the year.
Relevant topics include Computer Science & Programming, Digital Media & Design, Electronics, Engineering, Game Design & Development, and Robotics (see 2024-25 Schedule Builder Guide - UT (K-8).
The focus of Digital Media and Design should be on the digital aspect. You may request reimbursement for up to $25 in art supplies under a Custom-built Digital Art course. Additional art supplies are reimbursable with a Period 6 or 7 Custom-built Art course or Technology Allowance.
Students in grades 1-8 can choose Custom-built Exploring Business and Marketing for Period 5, encompassing Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, and/or Leadership.
The focus of a Custom-built Entrepreneurship class must be on learning to start and operate a business (not on learning a specific skill that might one day become a business). Approved expenses could include materials, costs to set up a business website, design a logo, print flyers, pay for permits or licenses, curriculum items, etc.
Students in grades K-8 can choose Exploring Careers or Exploring Family & Consumer
Sciences. These subjects encompass various topics; see 2024-25 Schedule Builder Guide - UT (K-8). Each subject can include the topics listed directly below.

Period 6 semester-based electives can be any combination of MTH Direct, 3rd Party Provider, and/or Custom-built classes. Classes qualify for separate reimbursements if a different subject is selected for 2nd Semester.
1st Semester receipts can be dated April 1 - December 31st. 1st Semester instruction must occur during the 1st Semester.
2nd Semester receipts can be dated April 1 - March 31. 2nd Semester instruction must occur during the 2nd Semester.

Primarily for diploma-seeking students in grades 9-12 or those wanting to add an additional MTH Direct option.
