2.1 Schedule Format (Utah)

Schedules are for the full year and follow this format:

Grades K-12

Period 1: Homeroom

Period 2: Math

Period 3: Language Arts

Period 4: Science or Social Studies

Period 5: Technology, Entrepreneurship, Career & Technical Education, or Family & Consumer Sciences Elective

Period 6: Another Core or Elective

  • Elective options: Career & Technical Education, Driver's Ed, Entrepreneurship, Family & Consumer Sciences, Fine Arts (Art, Dance, Music, Theater), Health, P.E., Technology, World Language

Period 7: OPTIONAL Another Core or Elective

  • Primarily for diploma-seeking students in grades 9-12 or those wanting to add an additional MTH Direct option.

  • Adding a Period 7 course will affect a student’s available Technology Allowance.

  • Keep in mind that Technology Allowance funds can be used for subjects not listed on a student’s schedule.

Note: All subjects for grades K-12 are set for the full school year, with one exception for grades 9-12.

Grades 9-12 Period 6 semester-based elective option:

Students in grades 9-12 who have an eligible semester-based elective in Period 6 for the 1st Semester can choose a different semester-based elective for the 2nd Semester.

Eligible students who would like to make a semester-based elective change can request to unlock their Period 6 elective at the end of November (final date will be finalized closer to that time of year).

Eligible subjects:

  • Career and Technical Education

  • Driver's Ed

  • Fine Arts

  • Family and Consumer Sciences

  • P.E. / Health
